Marlamanu: Employment on Country
Two new Site Officer jobs at Mount Anderson Station are bringing local Aboriginal employment and helping us run our On-Country youth program.
-
Marlamanu’s location at Mount Anderson Station creates an opportunity for local Aboriginal employment alongside delivery of its On-Country youth program.
Through the Australian Government’s Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program, Marlamanu secured funding to create two Site Officer positions, providing local employment while strengthening the practical and operational capacity required to run a remote On-Country facility.
-
KRED developed the project around a practical need: Marlamanu required local people on the ground to help keep a remote On-Country facility operating safely and effectively.
Working with Marlamanu and surrounding communities, KRED developed the funding application around two Site Officer roles suited to local Nyikina and Mangala people with practical skills and knowledge of Country.
The positions support the everyday operation of the site while creating an employment pathway for local people who want to contribute to Marlamanu outside direct youth program delivery.
KRED also incorporated the practical requirements of remote employment into the project, including the 4WD vehicle required to support the Site Officers and remote operations.
