Wala Koorl-bi Centre
Wala Koorl-bi is a KRED-led residential, education and training centre at Mount Anderson Station in the Kimberley, delivered through KRED subsidiary Marlamanu Pty Ltd.
-
The centre provides accommodation for up to 16 young people and 12 program staff, together with classrooms, communal and activity spaces, food preparation and dining facilities, ablutions, workshops and outdoor facilities.
Meaning “catch them up quick” in Nyikina language, Wala Koorl-bi provides a permanent home for the Marlamanu On-Country Youth Program and a culturally safe place for young people to live, learn, build practical skills and spend time on Country.
-
Wala Koorl-bi is KRED’s own project, delivered through its subsidiary Marlamanu. KRED led the development of the centre from concept through planning, approvals, design and construction delivery.
KRED coordinated the specialist expertise required to deliver a complex development in a remote Kimberley location, bringing together planning, legal, architectural and construction services to turn the Wala Koorl-bi vision into a purpose-built facility.
